3 Home Ingredients For Dry Hair

The dilemma of a beauty product addict: buy store-bought products for oodles of cash or use a home remedy. If I can’t find a good recipe for a homemade remedy I splurge at the store. Especially on hair product, since I color my hair A LOT. It’s been every common color except jet black. Well, that’s not true. One Halloween I dressed up as Elvira. Imagine a pimple faced, pale teenager with jet black hair. Lesson learned.

I used to go through a lot of pricey hair deep conditioner until I learned it wasn’t needed. There are plenty of ingredients in your kitchen that will do the trick!

Our mom has been using vinegar on our hair for as long as I can remember. From personal experience, don’t do it before it rains. Everyone in a 10’ area will smell vinegar and wonder where it’s coming from. It’s the kind of embarrassing situation a 7th grader will carry with them to the grave. Anyway, the vinegar removes all the gunk and build up on the scalp promoting healthy hair growth. This is a bit trickier since you have to avoid your eyes. Grab a towel and wrap it around your neck (helps if you’re topless!!) so the vinegar doesn’t spill down your neck. As you lean back over the sink, pour a cup of vinegar directly on your scalp. After 10 minutes rinse it out and hop in the shower to shampoo. This isn’t a smell you want lingering.

Olive Oil

Olive oil locks moisture in to nourish dry hair. Just massage the olive oil onto your hair and let it sit for up to 20 minutes. If you have oily hair then skip the roots and concentrate on the ends. Once you’re done just rinse it out with warm water. Your hair will have a bit of a greasy hair until the next time you shampoo.

Many conditioners contain the proteins and vitamins found in eggs, specifically b12 and Sulfur, so why buy it for 20x more? Beat the yolks in a small bowl before applying directly to your hair. Let it sit for up to 20 minutes. Rinse with cool water vs warm. You don’t want the eggs to “cook” in your hair. Nice visual huh?
