How to Apply Foundation

Hello Beauties! Today’s blog post is all about how to apply foundation. As a makeup artist, the best tip I can share is how to make your skin look flawless. People always tell me my skin looks great. My secret? A good skincare regimen and excellent foundation application. Good skincare and great makeup techniques will provide for flawless looking skin every time. Applying foundation beautifully begins with beautiful skin.

How to Apply Foundation

1. A good skincare regimen. Cleanse, exfoliate, and moisturize. Cleansing and exfoliating will remove any dead skin build-up. Moisturizer will keep your skin moist and hydrated. This will provide a smooth base for your foundation application.

2. The right primer. A primer will prime the skin so the foundation sits better and lasts longer. Are you chronically red? A green-toned primer will neutralize the red in your face and even you out. Are you oily? A mattifying primer will control your shine throughout the day. Are you dry or prematurely aging? My favorite anti-aging primer gives you a glow and has wrinkle-fighting peptides.

3. What type of foundation. How much coverage do you need and want? A tinted moisturizer will nourish your skin and provide light coverage. Normal liquid foundation will offer thicker coverage. Remember, less is more. Mineral Powder is full coverage by tends to cake up. Refresh any type of foundation with a hydration mist.

4. Foundation Applicators. Honestly, you don’t need special tools to apply foundation. The best tool is clean hands. The heat from your skin will literally warm up the product so that it melts into your skin better. Apply the way I did in the picture, spread and pat into the skin. This will melt the makeup into your skin so that it looks like second skin–flawless!
