How to determine your skin type

When it comes to skin type, the first thing you need to do is forget everything you knew before! You’ve been taught by cosmetic, beauty advisers, magazines and even some dermatologists, is rather inaccurate, confusing or meant to make you buy  their products.

The answer to the question “what’s my skin type” is already in your possession! You know yourself best, you know how your skin reacts to environmental factors that are its problems. Give it a few minutes of attention and recalls the time spent together: which are the strongest memories of your skin?

Defining you skin as oily skin, normal or dry in an uninformed way leads to improper product selection and to a vicious circle in which you will be eternally unhappy with the condition of your skin. To understand the problem fully, you should know that every person is born with a phototype which can change depending on the body’s hormonal changes, DURING life. In this context, the term refers to hydrolipidic barrier that protects the skin from external factors. The lipid layer is, as its name, made up of water and lipids and varies from person to person. Below, we define these types of skin and recommend products that you have to choose.

Skin Types – Normal skin
In case of normal skin,  we talk about balance. It is created because the ratio of water and protective film lipids is weighted which determines an optimal level of hydration. Appearance: normal skin is smooth, bright, elastic and has no imperfections or visible pores. Moreover, external factors tolerance is high, the skin tans quickly and without burns. That does not mean you shouldn’t use sunscreen!
You must know, however, that nobody can guarantee a normal skin throughout your existence, if you do not cleanse, exfoliate and moisturize properly. Ah, do not forget about the diet, lifestyle and quality of care products you use.

Skin types – dry skin
Here we must make a clear distinction between dry and dehydrated skin. The first is a skin type that involves a deficiency of skin lipid protective film because the sebaceous glands are smaller and less active or hormonal problems prevent sebum production.

Instead, dehydrated skin occurs due to water deficiency in the body. Among the potential causes include exposure to aggressive environmental factors, excessive consumption of coffee and alcohol, lack of fruit and vegetables, not drinking enough water or the use of aggressive products. The upside is that dehydrated skin is treated more easily, the problem being just temporary.

Skin types- combination skin
Combination skin (combined) is generally healthy and has a plain structure. Frequently portions of skin in the T-zone (forehead, nose and chin) are oily with large pores and the skin around the eyes, cheeks and temples is dry. However, other combinations are possible: a glossy skin on the nose, but normal on the forehead and cheeks; portions of dry skin oily or normal skin areas.

Therefore, combination skin can have in different areas of the face typical symptoms two or even three main types of skin (normal, oily and dry). Skin color, also may not be uniform. But proper care of combination skin delays wrinkles for long. The difference between portions of skin is explained thus: in areas that are most often subject to influences of sun damage, wind and weather – forehead, nose and chin – sebaceous glands are more numerous and produce more sebum. Therefore, the middle area of the face (the T) may gain an oily sheen and is prone to pimples and acne (specific oily), while the cheeks appear smooth and velvety.

Combination skin generally have adolescents but in time, almost always becomes normal if  is cared for properly.
