How to Prevent Hyperpigmentation

Tips On How To Prevent Hyper Pigmentation

ALWAYS wear sunblock. Every day, even if its cloudy or raining, even if you’ll be indoors most of the day. Always, always wear sunblock.

Find the right sun block for you at Sephora or Ulta.

On that note, look for a broad-spectrum sunblock, with SPF 30 (or higher) and PA+++

SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor. This will block the burning rays of the sun. PA stands for Photo-Aging. This will block out rays that cause (you guessed it!) aging.

When its extra sunny, wear a sun-hat, along with your sunscreen.

Hyperpigmentation doesn’t just happen on the face. Our arms, hands and décolleté are also vulnerable to the rays of the sun. Any sunblock you wear on your face, can also be worn on the hands and décolleté.

Try to wear long sleeves if you know you’ll be stuck in traffic for a while. Trust me, it’ll be so worth it in the long run.

Regularly exfoliate, to promote cell turn-over, and healthy skin.

Hyperpigmentation is sometimes also caused my acne scars. Don’t pop or pick at pimples! Get a facial and have a professional properly extract impurities from the skin. I promise it’s worth it in the long run.

If you have invested in peels to help heal old hyperpigmentation spots, remember: you’re still vulnerable to getting more in the future. When the skin has been peeled, it’s even more sensitive to the sun. Keep on slathering that sunblock, baby!
