MAKEUP FACE CHARTS
Hello Beauty Lovers! Today I want to talk about something called makeup face charts. Makeup face charts are what makeup artists use to practice their brush control, and to have fun creating beautiful art with makeup on sketch paper. Doing makeup face charts is a great way to explore the artistic side of makeup and improve your skills.
The thing about makeup, it washes off at night. Sure we can take pictures. But, to me, face charts are a little more special, more permanent. They’re also more flexible. Sometimes, a client or model will restrict a makeup artist’s creativity because she only wants a certain look. Face charts don’t make any requests. You can let your creativity run wild and execute any look you’d like.
Additionally, if you’re looking to build your confidence as a makeup artist, makeup face charts are a great place to start. There’s no pressure of not pleasing your client. You can literally do whatever you’d like and not worry about anyone’s criticism but your own. If you mess up, just start a new one. It’s that easy.
Personally, face charting is my go-to method to relax, unwind, and create something beautiful, maybe after a long day at work or whatever. Since I do them so often, I’ve ironed out the kinks. Don’t get me wrong, I still have a long way to go with my skills. Still, I thought I’d share what works best for me with you all today. 🙂
Face Chart Tips
If you google face chart images, you can print out your favorite and then photocopy it onto sketch paper. That’s what I do and it works pretty well for me.
Once you have the face chart in hand, you’ll want to avoid putting any cream or liquid makeup on them. Powders are best for makeup face charts.
You also want to have an eraser handy to clean up.
The best thing is, there are no rules with face charts! Go nuts! Create that natural look, or that fantasy look you’ve been nervous to try on a model. Or, you can brainstorm a look you’ll eventually wear on yourself or put on a model.
The more you do face charts, the better you will get at them.
