Hello beauties! Today’s blog is about the importance of sunscreen, and why you should always wear it. I recently spent the day in Venice Beach. It was a lovely day, full of sun. This got me to thinking of the importance of sunblock, not only at the beach, but all year long. Sunblock should be a part of every body’s skincare routine. Regardless of the weather, or whether or not you will be outdoors, sunscreen is a must. Even on cloudy, muggy days, harmful UV rays penetrate through the overcast. Even when we are indoors, we are exposed to UV rays from light bulbs, computers, TVs, and cell phones. It’s important to wear sunblock to combat UV damage from our every day lives.
Now there are two types of UV Rays: UVA and UVB.
UVA Rays cause Aging. They will cause sunspots and can lead to premature wrinkles and sagging skin.
UVB Rays cause Burns. This can lead to damage and even skin cancer.
The sunblock you wear on a daily basis should be “broad spectrum.” This will combat both UVA and UVB rays. Recent trends have shown high-end sunblocks claiming to be “SPF PA+.” This is the same as broad spectrum. Its just a different way of saying it. SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor (which combats UVB rays). And PA stands for Photo Aging fights UVA rays.
So please, make sure your sunblock fights both kinds of UV rays for your own beauty and health. My favorite is the Shiseido Sunscreen. Be sure to reapply often, too! Whether you’re in-doors or at the beach, sunblock should always be a staple of your beauty routine. And I promise, if you stick with it, you will stay and be beautiful.
