What To Look For in a Bridal Makeup Artist

Hello beauties! Today’s post is all about what to look for in a bridal makeup artist. As a makeup artist who’s done several weddings, I thought I’d give some advice out there to brides. Your wedding is without a doubt one of the most important days of your life. The wedding photos will last generations. It’s important to seek a professional makeup artist who you trust with the responsibility of bringing out your inner beauty for your special day. Here are some easy tips when shopping around for bridal makeup artists.

What To Look For in a Bridal Makeup Artist

  • Professionalism
  • Reliability
  • Cleanliness
  • Great Attitude
  • Talent

When it comes to what to look for in a bridal makeup artist, professionalism is of utmost importance. A professional makeup artist will have business cards, and should have a website or some type of portfolio that you can look at, to review his or her work.

A professional makeup artist will make TWO appointments with you. A Demo, where she will discuss the look with you, and even apply your makeup as if it were the wedding day. This will allow for her to time herself, and also receive approval from you on the makeup look. ALL the kinks are worked out at the demo, so the big day runs smoothly.

Once you feel you’ve found the right makeup artist for you, the demo will be the time to confirm that. How professional is she at the demo? Did she arrive on time? Is she prepared with all her supplies? Is she neat and impeccable? Or sloppy?  How does she make you feel? Does she seem frazzled as she does your makeup? Or is she calm and in control? These are all questions to ask yourself during the demo. Think of the demo as your makeup artist’s audition to be hired by you. If she makes you feel great at the demo, then she’s your gal for your big day.

Remember, your makeup artist’s work should make you feel beautiful, not caked up. On your wedding day, you want to hear, that YOU look beautiful. Not that your makeup looks beautiful. The makeup look you wear should feel comfortable, soft, and classy.

I hope you enjoyed these quick tips on what to look for in a bridal makeup artist. Remember, you can always contact me with any and all questions. Until next time, stay beautiful!
